The World Heritage site of Hadrian's Wall is a short drive down the Tyne Valley. Look for signs when you arrive in Chollerford. Vindolanda, Housesteads and Chesters are the most popular sites to visit. Kielder Water, the largest man-made lake in Europe, is a haven for activities such as cycling, fishing, sailing, riding and water sports.
Kielder also has Europe's largest man-made forest which is surrounded by open countryside and wildlife, with red squirrels, deer and rare birds, where you can enjoy walking, sightseeing, mountain hiking, nature safaries and visit the Birds of Prey Centre. There are also a growing number of sculptures & landmarks on display along the walking and cycling trails and the recently open maize at Kielder Castle. A wide range of events take place here throughout the year, such as husky dog racing, cyclo-orienteering and sailing competitons.
For the ultimate activity experience try quad biking, kart rallying, 4x4 off-road driving and paintball combat. Northumberland National Park - A nature reserve stretching from Hadrian's Wall to the Cheviot Hills with superb walking scenery, a variety of wildlife and many historic sites.
Hexham a market town with its beautiful Abbey is 17 miles south of Bellingham. Market day is a Tuesday. National Trust properties - Visit beautiful and historic properties such as Cragside and Wallington.

Alnwick Castle, Lindisfarne Castle, Bamburgh Castle, Chillingham Castle in Border Reiver country. Beautiful North East Coastline - Large unspoilt stretches of white sands in a region of strong Christian Heritage where you can visit Holy Island and the Farne Islands nature reserve.
