Bellingham Village
In the village, sport facilities include an 18 hole golf course, all weather bowling green, tennis court, swimming pool and sauna. There is also mountain bike hire. The village also has a Heritage centre which will tell you all about the history of Bellingham and surrounding areas.

Hareshaw Linn is a beautiful nature trail, which culminates in a spectacular 10 metre waterfall. The trail begins near the campsite entrance. Various other riverside walks and sections of the Pennine way can be walked from the village, St Cuthbert's Church in Bellingham is a 13th Centuary Church with a unique stone roof and famous long pack tomb.

Kielder Water
A fifteen minute drive will take you to Kielder water. Named as the most tranquil place in England, the vast Kielder Water & Forest Park is an amazing oasis where adventure and stunning scenery combine in a landscape rarely seen in England. With a 27 mile shoreline, Kielder Water is the largest man-made lake in Northern Europe and Kielder Forest, the largest planted forest in Northern Europe which means there is plenty to experience and enjoy.

Take a deep breath and embrace Kielder Water & Forest Park. The landscape perfectly captures the mood of Northumberland. An inspirational and romantic place to savour, where there is adventure at every stop and some wonderful things in between. The vast, wide open spaces are not solely a backdrop in which to relax and renew in the crystal clear air, it is a base camp for adventure, where you can stay and play. Even Santa comes to connect with his senses in the weeks leading up to his busiest day of the year, turning Kielder into a magical Winter Wonderland.

Walking
The Pennine way passes the gate to the campsite. There are many walks in the area, the North Tyne valley gives easy access to walking in some of the quietest and least spoilt places in Northern England. Wooded valleys give way to heather and grass moor land in the hills rising from them. Kielder Forest has an extensive path network and Kielder Water has lovely walks close to the shore.
   
Cycling
Bellingham is on the route of the Reiver's Way cycle way, this runs from Tynemouth in Northumberland to Whitehaven in Cumbria. There is also the recently opened Pennine Cycle Way. Quiet roads and breathtaking scenery in hill country offer cyclists of all abilities the chance to enjoy the Northumberland countryside. 


Kielder's 200 square miles of forest and 27 mile lake shoreline offer routes for cyclists of all ages and abilities. The area is fast becoming known as one of the best centres for mountain biking in Britain. There are 13 waymarked trails, from easy to demanding, and two off road routes, accessible all year round.
Horse Riding
Easy access to the Border County Ride and many other forest and fell bridleways including those in Wark and Kielder Forest. Horse riding centre are within easy travelling distances. Arrangements can be made to stable your horse overnight on the farm.
Sailing
Kielder Water is only ten miles from Bellingham. Here is an opportunity to sail on a huge expanse of open water with lots of intricate inlets and a shoreline which is at least 27 miles long.
Fishing
There are a wealth of beautiful Northumbrian rivers available. However fishing on the River North Tyne is available by purchasing a day permit from the local general store, or if you wish there is course fishing available at Kielder Water or Sweethope Lough both within a 15 minute drive away.

Golf
The local course in Bellingham, open 7 days a week to visitors, it is only 2 minutes drive from the campsite. This is an 18 hole rolling parkland course with magnificent views. Alternatively you may like to play some of the spectacular courses Northumberland has to offer.

Rock Climbing
Callerhues Crag is on the south end of Corsenside Common and is only ten minutes from the campsite. The rock is Fell Sandstone. The majority of the routes are of a bouldering nature. There are over 50 routes on the crag between the grades of VS and E5.  The great Whin sill escarpment on Hadrian's Wall is approximately 30 minutes drive from the campsite. The rock is dolerite. There are two crags. The most easterly is Crag Lough, which has been over a 100 recorded routes. Peel Crag has over eighty routes. On both crags, the best routes are in the lower/middle grades.
Other Places to See
The World Heritage site of Hadrian's Wall is a short drive down the Tyne Valley. Look for signs when you arrive in Chollerford. Vindolanda, Housesteads and Chesters are the most popular sites to visit. Kielder Water, the largest man-made lake in Europe, is a haven for activities such as cycling, fishing, sailing, riding and water sports. Kielder also has Europe's largest man-made forest which is surrounded by open countryside and wildlife, with red squirrels, deer and rare birds, where you can enjoy walking, sightseeing, mountain hiking, nature safaries and visit the Birds of Prey Centre. There are also a growing number of sculptures & landmarks on display along the walking and cycling trails and the recently open maize at Kielder Castle. A wide range of events take place here throughout the year, such as husky dog racing, cyclo-orienteering and sailing competitons. For the ultimate activity experience try quad biking, kart rallying, 4x4 off-road driving and paintball combat. Northumberland National Park - A nature reserve stretching from Hadrian's Wall to the Cheviot Hills with superb walking scenery, a variety of wildlife and many historic sites.  Hexham a market town with its beautiful Abbey is 17 miles south of Bellingham. Market day is a Tuesday. National Trust properties - Visit beautiful and historic properties such as Cragside and Wallington. Historic Castles - Alnwick Castle, Lindisfarne Castle, Bamburgh Castle, Chillingham Castle in Border Reiver country. Beautiful North East Coastline - Large unspoilt stretches of white sands in a region of strong Christian Heritage where you can visit Holy Island and the Farne Islands nature reserve. Gardens - Stroll around gardens open under the National Gardens Scheme and see the new Alnwick Garden.  Day Trips - Visit County Durham's award winning Beamish Open Air Museum. Go shopping and sightseeing at Durham City and Cathedral. Visit shopping centres at Newcastle, Gateshead Metro Centre and Carlisle, and we are only 30 minutes drive from the Scottish Borders.
